Determination of the total solids content of drilling fluids

Summary

Calcium chloride is used as an additive in drilling fluids for oil and gas wells to adjust fluid density and to cool and lubricate the drill bit. The additional calcium can also be used to prevent water absorption and swelling of various rock types. A simple, fast, and reliable method to determine calcium content in various drilling fluids is thermometric titration.
